Below are some recent pictures one of out one of our inspectors took at an inspection he did under a clients home in Modesto, CA. These are subterranean termite tubes. Notice that some of the tubes are being built by the termites reaching into thin air from the ground up. They’ll work to build a mud tube to span a distance because they can’t be exposed to air. Once they create their safe little moisture tube from the ground up to the wood in a home, they’ll start to work on shredding away at the wood in the foundation of your home! These incredible little creatures are perfectly suited to decompose dead wood but in the right condition and can go unseen for quite a long time. Subterranean termites can be quite dangerous because they are so small and work quickly.
